While many designers leaned towards lady-like lace and velvet on the runways for fall, the downtown girl got just as much attention. Along with leather and as always, plenty of black, designers from Marc Jacobs to Thakoon put a twist on our classic military and/or grunge inspired boots.
While some of these combat boot styles aren't quite suitable for battle, they aren't too sweet for the street. Style tips: fold them over and throw them on. Wear them high and tuck into a pair of jeans, add with tights and a skirt or even revive those Docs from the grunge days with a printed floral dress.
What key pieces do guys need for Fall? You're looking at them! On almost every runway, there was a version of the lace up military boot, and I must say, I love the easy toughness of a boot tucked into pants. Wear them with jeans, even rock them with a dressier slim fit trouser. Of course to top it all off, the pea coat is back with a vengeance, if it's ever really went away at all. And since we all have smart phones that tell us what time it is, opt for funky jewelry instead of a watch to finish off. Just don't pile on necklaces, with bracelets, rings and earrings. No one-- or at least no one I know, wants to date someone who looks like they hang out in the back of Satriales Pork Store in Jersey.
