Comey's fall collection is usually more exciting for me than her spring. Last Fall 2010, she sent models out in printed dresses and separates with leather socks that had Tweeters and bloggers saying "I want those!" In spring 2011, she took a runway bow, very visibly pregnant. Always an eclectic mix of inspirations, this season Mickey Rourke (in Year of the Dragon) was mentioned as a muse. He was not at the show.
Loved Looks

High waisted pants get mixed reviews from most. Perhaps that it takes a certain type of woman to wear this shape and feel good about it. I personally love them and they are a signature of the designer. Comey doesn't stray from what she is known for. Her dorky girl loves pretty prints. Her girl often chooses her clothes because they are interesting to her and not for whos looking. For me, I prefer to dress in what I like rather than the trend de la creme. This is Comey's strength, originating pieces that start the following, rather than jumping on the band wagon.
Unloved Looks

With having an original style, taking risks can sometimes fall flat as we all know. I have to say it, I hated the mullet hair-- 60 year old in the front, young teen in the back. Think back to that high school or college picture of you in that outfit you thought was the shit at the time, but then pray that no one has access to an old roll of film and a scanner because it will end up tagged on Facebook. (My early 90's lug sole work boot inspired low tops live in infamy now on the web)
People, Scene, Music
Editors from Harper's Bazaar US sat front row. Show goers were the type that don't seek out for attention, but just happen to have great style. That is unless you are blogger Bryanboy, then you wear an afro wig along with a giant animal hair coat. He wasn't the only blogger to attend, the more noted of the blogging set sat upfront, seemingly saying that Rachel Comey appreciates the new press that comes from viral posts on the Internet. Like shows of the past, Rachel Comey included live music and brought on Doug Shaw of Highlife for the show.
